Built on a warm 18k rose gold canvas and paved by hand over a curve, which is harder than paving a flat face. Sized to you and made to your order.
A dome has no flat plane to work from. Each stone sits at a slightly different angle to the one beside it, and the setter is compensating continuously so the surface reads as one unbroken field rather than a series of rings.
We hold a tolerance far narrower than the trade does. Stones that would pass anywhere else are sent back. That is the whole business, and it is the reason a ZALXNDRA piece looks the way it does at arm's length.
The setting is built in order, tier by tier, by a single setter. Nothing is farmed out mid-piece. It is slower, and it is the only way the outer wall closes cleanly.
