The inlay is bedded level with the metal rather than proud of it, which means the diamond ring has to be cut into the same plane. There is no second tier to absorb an error, so the whole piece depends on that one line being true.
We hold a tolerance far narrower than the trade does. Stones that would pass anywhere else are sent back. That is the whole business, and it is the reason a ZALXNDRA piece looks the way it does at arm's length.
